Lower Roundhurst Farm is an organic farm approved by the Soil Association in 1998. We specialize in producing the finest organic beef from our pedigree herd of Sussex cattle. We also produce succulent organic lamb and pork along with organic eggs from our own free range hens.

We took over the farm in October 2004 and have been steadily developing Lower Roundhurst Farm, finding new markets and introducing new animals.

Our aim is to produce the highest quality meat possible within a context of caring for the countryside, its farm animals and wildlife for the benefit of ourselves, our neighbours, the wider community and future generations.

At Lower Roundhurst Farm we believe that the quality of life of our animals has a great bearing on the quality of meat produced.

We rear our animals naturally and with great concern for their welfare. The Soil Association defines health in animals as "a positive physical and mental state" satisfying "all the animals' needs, including behavioural needs, not just the avoidance of cruelty".

At the heart of our philosophy is our desire to enhance and work with natural biological cycles. We aim for co-existence with rather than dominance over nature. Organic farming is recognised by the UK government as better for the environment causing lower levels of pollution and improving soil fertility with natural organic matter. Wildlife is no longer poisoned and a balanced population of bees, butterflies, birds and wild animals is encouraged. Organic farming produces livestock that are robust and able to resist disease and their meat is richer in healthy Omega 3 oil than grain fed animals - it's better for them and better for us.

By farming organically at Lower Roundhurst Farm we produce beautiful, well cared for, healthy animals in an unspoilt and healthy environment.
